When God’s favour is upon you, you can flourish anywhere. Joseph was sold by his brothers as a slave to the Egyptians. Right there in that hopeless situation, we are told that “The Lord was with him, and he prospered” (Genesis 39:2).
It does not matter where circumstances place you, you can still prosper. It is not even dependent on who likes you, who is plotting against you, your current constraints and level of indebtedness, the state of the economy, etc. It is about what is inside you and not what is happening outside. Favour has a way of opening doors exclusively for those who have it. If you have favour, even those around you benefit.
In Genesis 26, we are told that there was a famine in the land of Canaan. Isaac had to move to Gerar where Abimelech, the king of the Philistine’s lived. We are told that “When Isaac planted his crops that year, he harvested a hundred times more grain than he planted for the Lord blessed him. He became a very rich man, and his wealth continued to grow”
When you have the favour of God, you prosper even in a foreign land. Your things happen so suddenly and speedily. You do things that people have been trying to do for years in a short space of time and without much effort. You surpass others with your performance and everything you do just stands out. You excel in such a manner that people begin to be jealous of you. Not only that, they get threatened as well. King Abimelech could not stomach Isaac’s success to the extent that he chased him away. “Go away from here, for you have become too powerful for us”.
Some people like you as long as you are needy and to a certain extent dependent on them. Once they see your conditions change because of favour, suddenly they resent you. Don’t worry when people unexpectedly and unceremoniously withdraw from you. They could not stand your success and they started picking petty things that they could have tolerated if you were still needy and perhaps part of their “league”.
Now, having been chased away, Isaac moved and camped in another area. In the new place where he had settled, when one day his servants were digging in the valley, they came across a well of spring water, something he needed. The locals in the area became jealous and claimed the spring to be theirs. So Isaac dug another well and again they found flowing water. Again, the locals quarreled with them. Isaac had to move again and dig another well. What the locals did not understand was that the wells had flowing water simply because of the favour that was upon Isaac. I will not be surprised if the wells dried up as soon as they chased Isaac away. The favour upon Isaac was such that wherever he moved, in every well he dug, there was flowing water. Those wells were not discovered by the people of Gerar until Isaac showed up.
As a child of God, you have a similar favour. It is the type of favour that when you show up, things change. Just by your being there, the atmosphere changes because of the favour that is upon you. Sometimes we limit ourselves by sizing ourselves up and think that we don’t have what it takes. We look at the natural circumstances and forget that we have an advantage of the favour of God that knows no limits and has no bounds. Because of the favour of God, you can own mansions and a fleet of cars. It just depends on how far your faith go. You can have your own private jet and as many people serving you as you like. You just have to stop confessing negativity and start speaking prosperity over your life. Think, speak and act like a blessed person for God’s favour is upon you.
